Trying to install MP9 on Win98SE. It downloads from the MS website, installs, then comes up with the message: Error Starting program "The SETUP_WM.EXE file is linked to missing export ADVAPI32.dll:InitiateSystemShutdownExW." I don't understand the message: The dll is in windows/system (dated 1999?).

Personally, tarballs are the natural choice simply because they're in the majority and raa-install already supports gzip and tar. true... So if we can take some steps as a community to provide RAA with more specific and useful data, then a bit of software like Raa-install won't be some incredible wizardry.

I had to install .net 3.5 manually to get VS2008 to go. Did you try downloading and installing .net 2.0 SP1 seperately and installing it outside of the VS2008 installer? I would try that if you haven't. Then install 3.5 manually from outside the VS installer. If you can get 3.5 installed, then try the VS2008
